Momentary Time Sampling

A discontinuous measurement method in ABA where the observer records whether the target behavior is occurring at the exact moment each interval ends.

What Is Momentary Time Sampling?

Momentary time sampling is a discontinuous data collection method used in ABA. At the exact end of each interval, the observer checks whether the target behavior is happening right then.

In momentary time sampling, the observer records yes/no at the end of each interval. The observer does not score behavior that happened earlier in the interval unless it is occurring at the checkpoint moment.

This is useful when one observer is tracking behavior for groups or in busy classroom settings where continuous recording is not realistic.
